These below are prescribed to stall yet not heal, they allow me to walk a block however so I love them, but I need them periodically only.  I use them sparingly since the positive effects quickly diminish.  Mostly I take one daily of every thing, especially the heavy stuff , waiting as long as I can tolerate.  I may need these man-made helpers more in the future, so I resist them, I want them so they will work when I need most.
