I started years before Mr. Gates, and now feel that he prudently developed his good fortune, luck, asw ell as anyone could have, with wonderful timing, while the world was blind. I am a bottom-up concept-designer, so I do not love his software, yet, to date, the product is adequate and has helped the USA and the World greatly. I worry however, that his team counts lines of code and adds them to the asset side of the ledger, when in fact, each line compounds his (our) liability greatly. None the less, because this is
only a problem if Al-Queda types, or China attack us through the Smaller code is better code, top down has no solid base; and until now, Mr. William Gates has over shadowed nearly all of my serious concerns, producing and driving a valued set of tools, down to a price most can manage, except indigents like me. I just want to believe he is patriotically and earnestly working for a more secure system, as we now need for terrorist attack immunity, post 9-11. None the les, we are a stronger country, world, because of the cost reduction he forced through the economies of scale. Thanks Bill G. - vjc |
